The University of Southern California Shoah Foundation is one such organization that records and preserves survivor testimony, most recently through its New Dimensions in Testimony (NDT) initiative. In 2014, the USC Shoah Foundation piloted a digital rendition of Pinchas Gutter, a Polish Holocaust survivor who was only seven years old at the start of World War II. Spectators could ask Gutter a question, and the digital rendition would answer it. It is made possible through a combination of voice recognition technology, natural language processing and thoroughness: The Shoah Foundation recorded Gutter for more than 20 hours and asked him more than 1,500 questions to exhaust the possibilities of what a student might ask him. | Freemax Fireluke Mesh intro When it comes to tanks, freemax vape makes underrated atomizers. I have three them which I am very pleased with in terms of performance and build quality. The first two I got were the Starre Pure and the OG Fireluke, which to me are every bit as good as — if not better than — the more popular Uwell Crown III. The third of my Freemax tanks is the new Fireluke Mesh Tank. It’s a striking 24 mm subohm tank that uses mesh coils. It comes in three different finishes: steel, carbon fiber, and resin — each in a variety of colors. The steel version has a unique knurled design that matches the metal casing of the coil head. Colors: Steel: Black, Gold, Rainbow, Silver, Blue, Gunmetal; Carbon Fiber: Black, Blue, Purple, Silver; Resin: Black, Blue, Purple, Red (Pink) The Freemax Fireluke Mesh Tank is one of the best-looking tanks I’ve ever seen. Granted, looks don’t affect performance one bit, but I love the way this tank is designed. I received the Gold Steel and the Purple Resin versions. The steel version has a textured checkerboard pattern – just like the old school Gus Lord mechanical mod. It sort of looks like a piece of mesh, matching the theme of the tank. And the coil heads feature the same mesh checkerboard design and also match the color of the actual device. Each tank comes complete with a matching 810 drip tip. I’m a fan of the resin version, and can see resin tanks becoming a trend in 2018. The purple version looks fantastic. It doesn’t have that checkerboard design, but the resin itself looks beautiful and also comes with a matching resin 810 tip and stainless steel coils. I have yet to see the carbon fiber edition up close. The Freemax Fireluke Mesh uses a short-profile 810 drip tip so you can use other Goon-style tips with it. The tank has bottom airflow with two large air slots that are easy to adjust. It’s nice and smooth, but at also not too loose. And I’m happy that Freemax decided to use a stopper instead of allowing the ring to spin freely. The Mesh uses two massive top-fill ports that can be accessed by unscrewing the top top. These ports take up about 95 percent of the top-fill portion, so there’s plenty of room to fill with any kind of bottle. You can even pour juice straight in from a glass dropper bottle without using the dropper! It disassembles easily into four parts: top cap, fill cap, glass, and bottom base. But the tank must be empty before replacing the coil head. The coil itself screws into the base and holds the tank together when you screw it into the fill cap. The o-rings are great as well. The tank is listed as 24 mm in diameter, but I measured it closer to 24.5 mm (approximately the size of the SMOK Big Baby Beast), which should still be fine for most newer mods. | Rincoe Manto kit review Rincoe is a new name in the industry but it’s quickly gaining traction. One of their first products is the surprisingly good Manto kit which features a mod called the Manto 228W TC, and a sub-ohm mesh tank called the Metis. The Manto is a simple-to-use dual-18650 mod with a full TC suite and an almost instant fire at 0.002 seconds. The Metis is a stout 25 mm sub ohm mesh tank with a 6 mL bubble glass. It is compatible with two of Rincoe’s own coils (a mesh and a hive coil, both rated at 0.15 ohms) as well as the Baby Beast coils. No mod is perfect. But even with its flaws, I think the Manto is an incredible mod! The hand-feel, performance, screen, and ease of use all get high marks. Also, the spring-loaded 510 is of high quality and the battery door has strong magnets (although mine has too much lateral play.) The Manto is about 22 grams heavier than the Vaporesso Polar but it’s a few millimeters shorter. It’s also got a similar body shape, though the Manto is much more ergonomic. The screen on the Manto is nice! It’s not “3D”, like I’ve read it’s supposed to be, but the black background and graphics are really easy on the eyes. It’s a 2-inch deep-set adjustable color screen that’s overlaid with a thick and scratch-resistant glossy plastic (making it a fingerprint magnet).It’s been a pleasure to use this mod. It fires super-quick with maybe just a tiny delay compared to something like the Vaporesso Polar. The TC worked well for me too without any convoluted protocol or fiddling. It’s adjusted in temp with watts pre-set to 60 (where I left it). I tested the TC with the Freemax Mesh Pro SS coil head, and my own 28 gauge 0.8-ohm single-coil build on the Fumytech Rose. Both coils shocked me for how easily and quickly they worked in TC with no error messages. TC has never been this easy for me. Initially I thought that the dry hit protection didn’t work, but it does. My RTA SS coil stopped making vapor once the cotton got back to bone dry. For watts mode in the normal setting, the Manto seems to push power a bit above what it’s set to. It hits fast and hard! I like it though. This gives the iJoy Wand 100W Starter Kit multiple safety protections, like most devices on the market nowadays. The resistance range is 0.05-3.0-ohms, while the maximum wattage output is 100W. The Wand, however, only offers one vaping mode: a fixed voltage output. So depending on the coil and the level of your battery, the chipset sets the output for you. I tested the Diamond Sub-Ohm Tank previously when I reviewed the iJoy Diamond Mini Starter Kit. The tank measures 25mm in diameter, is constructed out of quality stainless steel and has a 5.5ml capacity with the included bubble glass. The glass is tinted with a rainbow sheen. Immediately I told him it could that it could have some bad filter capacitors in the power section and told him to drop it off. He brought the TV next day and he told me that he needs it back urgently because his children are on holidays for the Christmas season and I told him that I’ll have it done as soon as possible thinking this should be an easy fix. First thing was to discharge all the capacitors with my homemade capacitor discharge box (See picture below).After discharging the capacitors, I scan the boards for and sight of physical damage or bulge capacitor and sure enough the was one on the secondary side of the power supply. I remove the four capacitors that were on the secondary side and tested them, 47uf – 50 volts cap was bulged and I found a 470 uf – 10-volt cap with high ESR. I replace them and reassembled the TV for testing After I assembled the TV and tested, I was confident enough to say that this TV was fixed. Sure, enough the TV work fine for one hour and just when I was going to call the customer and tell him that his TV was fixed, I saw the same problem that the TV was still powering on/off every 5 minutes. Now I was confused as to what was the problem. I had checked all the components and check all the voltages and everything was fine. Just when I thought that this was going to be an easy fix I was totally baffled as to what was the problem. I search the internet to see what could be the cause and there was many options and I went through and check all the solutions. It was a bit frustrating so I left the TV and returned to it the next day. I left the TV running for two hours to see if anything was getting hot but had no such luck. I was using the remote to switch on the TV so one of the internet solutions was that the remote could cause the problem, so I left the TV running and remove the batteries from the remote, but the TV was still cycling on/off. I then tried to switch the TV back on using the power button and immediately I could that around the power switch was getting hot, so I thought it could be the power button. While I was removing the cover for the switch, I notice that there is a small box there. I forgot that this was a smart TV and it had a Wi-Fi card in it. This was the Wi-Fi box that hold the card. See picture below. This is the Wi-Fi card inside that is inside the box. I remove the outer case and plug the card back in and the metal casing that covers the MCU was getting hot. I then unplug the card and tried the TV and running it for several hours. The problem was gone, the TV was working fine. I call the customer and told him what was the problem and that he can use the TV without the Wi-Fi card. He was using a Fire stick on the TV so he can use a Lan cable and the TV would work just fine until I could get a replacement Card. I ran the TV for a full day and there was no more problem with the TV. After I reassembled the Tv and the customer collected it back, I call him a few days later to see if there was any problem and he said the TV work just fine. | ||
