| Jordan Reed has two fewer bones and a whole lot of peace of mind. Toe soreness in offseason workouts more than a year ago became lingering pain that threw off everything for the Washington Redskins tight end. Overcompensation led to a hamstring injury that kept Reed off the field http://www.bengalsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-mark-walton-jersey , and he never felt like himself even when he was able to play. So Reed went under the knife twice to have a sesamoid bone in each big toe removed. Reed now feels "100 times better" and hopes his toe injuries are a thing of the past so he can get back to his form of 2015, when he had 87 catches for 952 yards and 11 touchdowns. "It's definitely a relief," Reed said Friday. "Just having that nagging pain for two years was awful and now it's gone, so it's just a lot better." Reed said toe fractures gave him little choice but to have the surgeries, one on his left foot in December and the other on the right in February. They've so far worked out far better than his decision to get a stem-cell injection in the summer of 2017 that aggravated his toe problem so much he couldn't walk. That self-described "poor decision" completely derailed Reed's season, limiting him to 27 catches in six games. He tried orthotics in his shoes to ease the pain, but nothing worked, leading to an operation that's more common for dancers and exceedingly rare for the general public. "That's usually kind of like the last stop on the train," said Mark Drakos, a foot and ankle surgeon at Hospital for Special Surgery in New York. "They're very little bones. They're about the size of like a Peanut M&M, so they're very, very small. Most bones, if they break or they don't heal, we'll go in and fix them with plates and screws of if you break your ankle, we put it back together. These are so small that a lot of times we just take it out because it's quicker. It's a quicker recovery." Reed is well past the usual eight-to-12-week recovery period and has looked sharp in individual and team drills early in camp. Just having him on the field again is a plus for the Redskins, who need the 28-year-old to create matchup problems for opposing defenses. "He is a unique guy at the tight end position that can do so many things: route-running with the ball in his hands after the catch Youth Jonathan Allen Jersey ," new quarterback Alex Smith said. "He is oftentimes the guy that it doesn't really matter who's lined up against him 鈥?linebacker, safety, corner. He is a guy that I think has the skill set to win against all these positions." Coach Jay Gruden, who early in camp a year ago didn't think Reed's toe injury would be a long-term concern, is hopeful now because, as he put it, "I have to be." "I think he's one of the top tight ends in the National Football League when healthy," Gruden said. "Last year, he tried to fight through a couple of those injuries in the offseason. He got them fixed, so hopefully we'll put an end to all those foot and toe injury things and ankle. Jordan, he feels great right now, very optimistic about the way his body feels and now it's our job to make sure we just progress him along at a good rate." Gruden hopes to get Reed into a preseason game or two and have him 100 percent for the season opener against Arizona. On a team with a handful of players working back from injuries, Reed is taking a conservative approach as he balances restraint with the excitement of what he could do when finally healthy again. "Still working through that with the coaches and taking it slow," he said. "I'm just getting my body built back up. ... I'm confident moving forward." NOTES: Second-year LB Ryan Anderson left practice with back spasms and he's considered day-to-day. A team spokesman said RB Rob Kelley's departure was heat-related. ... LB Zach Brown was a limited participant in team drills a day after straining the quadriceps muscle in his left thigh. ... The team's afternoon walkthrough was cut short by lightning. Unlike their regular practice facility in Ashburn, Virginia, outside Washington Youth Justin Bethel Jersey , the Redskins do not have an indoor bubble at their Richmond site. If training camp and the preseason opener have indicated anything positive to the Chicago Bears, it's young talent at key positions could be deeper than anticipated. Rookie outside linebacker Kylie Fitts and several other Bears outside pass rushers have stepped up at a need area, while seventh-round draft pick Javon Wims is giving an indication competition for jobs at wide receiver will be fierce. "I think for all of us outside 'backers it's a young group, so we all have a lot to show out," Fitts said. Fitts made a sack and four tackles Thursday night in the Bears' 17-16 Hall of Fame Game loss to the Baltimore Ravens. It's not the first time this summer the Bears' sixth-round draft pick from Utah has been harassing quarterbacks. In training camp, he's almost been too effective as he made contact or got too close to Mitchell Trubiski, Chase Daniel and Tyler Bray. "We had to get on him the last couple weeks and even in OTAs on staying away from the quarterback," Bears coach Matt Nagy said. With the start of preseason games, Fitts can finally finish off sacks. "He plays extremely hard," Nagy said. "I have to sometimes remind him to make sure to stay away from the quarterback and the throwing motion and he actually came up to me and apologized to me for it. But you can't fault a kid for trying to play hard trying to get to the quarterback. So I told him 'when we get to the preseason, do it as much as you want.' " The Bears needed someone to complement outside linebacker Leonard Floyd, and signed former 49ers defensive end Aaron Lynch. Lynch hasn't practiced due to a hamstring injury, and Nagy said he'll likely miss another preseason game. They also have veteran Sam Acho, who has been a reserve for three seasons in Chicago. So when Fitts and second-year outside linebacker Isaiah Irving each came up with a sack Thursday, and the pass rush piled up eight sacks, the position seemed less of a problem. "I feel really comfortable with that Authentic Pernell McPhee Jersey ," Nagy said. "And again, having Lynch out right now is a struggle, just because we want him out there. But we've got to be safe with him and make sure he's 100 percent when he's back. "But once we get him back with Floyd and Acho and you have these other guys, these younger guys that are coming up, I feel like we're in good shape at that spot and have depth there." Except for a minor arm injury, Fitts has been healthy through camp. He finds it refreshing after injuries kept him off the field his last two college seasons, and likely caused a slide in the draft. "Last season it was tough sitting out all those plays, but I just ignore, don't think about injuries. I just come out and think about performing really well," Fitts said. Like Fitts, Wims also fell in the draft. He went in the final round after a productive year at Georgia. So Wims said he has something to prove, and Thursday did it with game-highs of seven catches for 89 yards. "He did a good job using his size and he also did a good job using his release moves, so that was a positive," Nagy said. "And then in regards to some details, he had some sloppy routes too." Wims is just another in a large group of receivers to excite Bears offensive coaches. Veterans Allen Robinson, Taylor Gabriel Quenton Nelson Jersey , Kevin White and Josh Bellamy, and rookie Anthony Miller have also been productive in practice. At 6-foot-3, Wims not only lined up outside, but also in the slot. "I think the great thing about this offense is all receivers have got to know all positions," Wims said. "Everybody. You kind of have got to be position-less, and just be plugged in at spots." The next test for both young draft picks will be continuing their progress Thursday at Cincinnati "Usually, the biggest thing that you see happen when a guy has a good game 鈥?whoever that is; any position 鈥?sometimes, those young guys then start to think, 'OK, I did a lot to help myself out and now I can kind of coast into practice or coast into the next game,' " Nagy said. "And that's not the case. "So our message to them is that's over with now. You did that, you played well. Now improve on that and build (on) those blocks." NOTES Safety Deon Busy (left hamstring) and cornerback Cre'Von LeBlanc (groin) were injured in Thursday's game and did not practice Saturday. ... Nagy said prior to the opener that talks were "stalemated" between the agent for first-round draft pick Roquan Smith and the team as the holdout continues. Nagy said Saturday there have been no new developments and the sides haven't talked again. . | ||

| Sergei Bobrovsky looked as poised facing 58 shots as he did before the game when he calmly walked down the hallway in a buttoned-up beige trenchcoat. On the ice Authentic Rick Leonard Jersey , Bobrovsky stood out even more. The goaltender with a history of playoff struggles looked like his two-time Vezina Trophy-winning self in making 54 saves as the Columbus Blue Jackets beat the Washington Capitals 5-4 on Sunday night on Matt Calvert’s overtime winner to take a 2-0 lead in the first-round playoff series. ”He’s our best player and he was our best player by a mile tonight,” said Calvert, whose one-handed rebound 12:22 into overtime sent the Blue Jackets into a frenzy. ”It makes us confident. When you’ve got him making up for your mistakes, it’s always good. He’s been doing it all season.” The playoff version of Bobrovsky of years past was a confounding nightmare compared to his elite play during the regular season: 3-10 with a 3.63 goals-against average and .887 save percentage. Through two games this year, the second of which coach John Tortorella called ”one of the best goaltending performances” he has seen, the reserved Russian has stopped 81 of 88 shots to send Columbus home for Game 3 Tuesday in a place it’s never been before. The Blue Jackets had never led a playoff series until Thursday night. With ”Bob” locked in like never before in the Stanley Cup playoffs, they’re two victories away from advancing to the second round for the first time in franchise history. ”I would say your career is a journey and you learn some things here and there,” Bobrovsky said. ”It doesn’t matter what’s in the past. When we’re gonna play third game, it doesn’t matter what happen tonight. Each moment is huge right now Youth Kareem Martin Jersey , and you just have to be ready.” Columbus appears ready for anything against an experienced opponent with a history of playoff disappointments that has now blown two-goal leads in consecutive games. Just like in Game 1 when charging and tripping calls on Tom Wilson and Andre Burakovsky cost the Capitals, they were done in by penalties on Wilson and Devante Smith-Pelly that led to goals by Cam Atkinson and Zach Werenski. Alex Ovechkin scored twice on the power play and T.J. Oshie tied it with 3:35 left to give Washington a chance. When Philipp Grubauer was pulled for allowing four goals on 22 shots, Braden Holtby made seven saves, but now the Metropolitan Division champions are in a hole only 49 of 361 teams (13.6 percent) have dug out of to win a best-of-seven series. ”Right now in hard position, but it’s going to be fun when we bounce back and … tie the series,” Ovechkin said. Coach Barry Trotz, who said he’d let his decision on who starts Game 3 simmer, added that the Capitals are ”not going away.” Through two games, the Blue Jackets have shown they aren’t http://www.bengalsauthorizedshops.com/authentic-cordy-glenn-jersey , either. Penalty trouble almost cost the Blue Jackets as much as the Capitals, but they got to leave celebrating after Calvert’s OT goal held up to an offside review by the NHL situation room. Replays showed Calvert was just onside before scoring to make the Blue Jackets just the fifth team in NHL history to overcome a multi-goal deficit to win the first two games of a playoff series. ”Luckily, I got the rebound, had one hand on my stick and the rest is history,” Calvert said. ”Two games in overtime, that can really crush a team.” History says Calvert is right. The Capitals are the sixth team to lose Games 1 and 2 of a best-of-seven series in overtime, and the previous five have all lost. NOTES: Columbus forward Josh Anderson scored after being ejected from Game 1 for boarding Washington’s Michal Kempny. … Columbus improved to 4-1 all-time in playoff overtime games. … Linesman Steve Barton had to be helped off the ice late in the first period after clipping skates with Anderson and going down clutching his left knee. On site as the standby official, mid-amateur golfer/referee Garrett Rank replaced Barton as the second linesman. … Columbus C Alexander Wennberg was out after taking a hit to the head from Wilson in Game 1. Coach John Tortorella only called Wennberg ”day-to-day” with an upper-body injury. … Capitals F Jakub Vrana was a healthy scratch after recording an assist and committing two turnovers in 6:58 of ice time in Game 1. — By: DENNIS WASZAK Jr.FLORHAM PARK, N.J.Copyright 2018 The Associated Press. | As the Arizona Cardinals gathered at midfield near the start of their first minicamp of the year Cody Bellinger Jersey , Larry Fitzgerald stood with his arm around the shoulder of team President Michael Bidwill. After all, they've been together quite a while. Pro football players rarely spend a long career with one team. Fitzgerald is entering his 15th season with the Cardinals, a span that has resulted in statistics that rank him among the game's greatest receivers. And he's not finished yet, learning a new offense as workouts began Tuesday with new coach Steve Wilks and his staff. "I dreamed I would be able to play in the same place and be able to play at a high level for a long time," Fitzgerald said. "That's what you work for. That's what you aspire to do. To be able to do it is a real blessing, but it's a new journey this year." Fitzgerald will turn 35 before the next season starts and he's shown no sign of diminished production. Last season, he tied his franchise record with 109 receptions, second-most in the NFL behind Jarvis Landry's 112, for 1,156 yards. It was the ninth time he has passed 1,000 yards receiving. Only Jerry Rice (14) and Randy Moss (10) have more 1,000-yard seasons. While quarterback Carson Palmer and coach Bruce Arians retired after last season, Fitzgerald chose to return and is doing so with high enthusiasm. "I never really need to be rejuvenated," he said. "I love the competition. I love hearing people say 'he's 35, he's too old to do this still,' and me just continuing to do what I do. All that stuff motivated me. ... Honestly, I'm as motivated as I was when I was 20 just cutting my teeth. It doesn't really turn off. "That's a good and a bad thing. I'm probably going to struggle when I'm done with it." Fitzgerald is third all-time in receptions (1,234) 鈥?behind Tony Gonzalez and Rice 鈥?and in yards receiving (15 Weston Richburg Jersey 49ers ,545) 鈥?behind Terrell Owens and Rice. He needs 92 catches and 390 yards to move into second in both categories. He's caught at least one pass in 211 consecutive games, tied for the second-longest streak in NFL history. Yet his importance in the locker room might supersede his performance on the field. "He's the best teammate, the best guy, I've really ever been around," center A.Q. Shipley said. Wilks is Fitzgerald's fifth head coach in Arizona. The two have been spending time together. They were courtside at a recent NBA game between the Phoenix Suns and Golden State Warriors. "Just from my short time around him, it would be difficult for you not to like him," Fitzgerald said. "Something would probably have to be wrong with you not to like him, honestly. I mean, he's so approachable, he's so down to earth. Honesty, integrity, all those things kind of come to mind when you talk to him." Wilks, the defensive coordinator at Carolina before coming to Arizona, knows how fortunate he is to inherit a wide receiver who certainly seems headed to the Hall of Fame. "I talk about this all the time with Larry," Wilks said, "a pillar of this community and really of the National Football League. And to have this guy on our team, to have him as a voice in that locker room, an extension of the coaches P.J. Hall Jersey Raiders , that's huge." Fitzgerald isn't sure what his role will be in the new offense installed by coordinator Mike McCoy. He's been studying the playbook so much he said he feels like he's in college again. Fitzgerald insists he takes nothing for granted. "Stature doesn't really get you anything," he said. "This is a prove-it business. Nobody cares what you did last year or the year before. That's in the history, that's in the past, so you're always trying to accomplish something new every day. That's my mindset." In the meantime, Fitzgerald's annual celebrity charity softball game is this Saturday. He has an All-Star cast of participants, including star running back David Johnson. But Johnson has been the butt of some severe criticism on Twitter from Fitzgerald for his lack of softball skill. "Well, he stinks," Fitzgerald said. "D.J.'s bad at baseball. He's a great football player, a wonderful husband, unbelievable father, terrible baseball player." Notes: Arians didn't believe in team stretching but, with music in the background, the team went through organized stretching drills on Tuesday. .... Wilks repeated the plan to bring quarterback Sam Bradford along slowly after his return from injury and has no timetable for when he will be a full participant. Alvin Kamara dismisses the notion that his approach to his second NFL camp should change because of the four-game suspension looming over fellow Saints Pro Bowl running back Mark Ingram. Whether Kamara and the running game are as effective without Ingram when the regular season opens remains to be seen. But Kamara expresses confidence in New Orleans' plan to deal with it. "We work hard regardless. If Mark was in the first four weeks, I'd still be working the same," Kamara asserted after the Saints' second practice of training camp Friday. "Of course, (Ingram) wants to be playing, but he's got to take his four weeks 鈥?and we've got playmakers." Those playmakers include two new veteran running backs acquired in free agency to ensure depth at the position. In the weeks leading up to training camp, the Saints signed 29-year-old Shane Vereen and 27-year-old Terrence West. "We feel like those are two young candidates Kemoko Turay Color Rush Jersey , two backs that, be it they're a little different in what they do, but we felt that they could help us and then with regards to Mark's snaps," Saints coach Sean Payton, who missed Friday's practice to attend former colleague Tony Sparano's funeral, said this week. "Shane's got a lot of versatility, is someone that we feel like is very good in protection. Also, he's a very good receiver. With Terrance, you see a physical runner. So, both of those players we felt like would help us." The Saints ranked fifth in rushing last season, but that ranking alone doesn't do justice to the contributions Ingram and Kamara made to the offense overall. Ingram had arguably his finest season yet with 1,124 yards and 12 touchdowns rushing to go with 416 yards receiving. Kamara, the 2017 NFL offensive rookie of the year , had 728 yards and eight TDs rushing to go with 826 yards and five TDs receiving. Yet, while Ingram's absence would appear to be a tough blow, the era of Payton and quarterback Drew Brees has produced highly effective offense with a wide range of personnel getting the ball. Brees also uses high-percentage short passes to augment the running game. That made New Orleans an attractive destination for Vereen, who has a history of helping offenses as a receiver out of the backfield more than as a rusher. "It's a great opportunity for me," Vereen said. "What really brought me here was the culture that they built around here. Definitely this is an offense that a lot of guys want to play in. "The way they use their backs is pretty similar to what I'm used to and it's the type of system that I feel like I can fit into Youth Josh Rosen Jersey ," Vereen continued. "Just the way they spread the ball around and the points that they put up, it seems like a good place to play." As a member of New England's 2014 championship squad, Vereen had 391 yards and two TDs rushing to go with 447 yards and three TDs receiving during the regular season. He also had 64 yards receiving in a Super Bowl victory over Seattle. "I've admired him from afar 鈥?really respected what he was able to do in New England and then obviously in New York" with the Giants, Brees said. | Allen Hurns isn't sure when Seahawks Rasheem Green Jersey , or even if, more specific roles will be settled for Dallas Cowboys receivers in the first season without Dez Bryant. Offensive coordinator Scott Linehan said it's more "when" than "if." "Right now, you guys have probably noticed, we're moving guys around a lot," Linehan said about a week into training camp in California. "That's a positive, especially early and now. But the thing that's gotta be improved upon is OK, when it gets down to crunch time, this is the guy, he's a go-to player in this route or this play." "We're making strides. Cole Beasley, with 53 fewer career TDs (20), is the Dallas dean in a mix of holdovers, newcomers and rookies that lacks anyone even close to the pedigree of Bryant. Before skipping a couple of practices with a mild leg issue, the 6-foot-1 Hurns was with the diminutive pair of fellow newcomer Tavon Austin and Beasley in three-receiver sets with the first team. Austin and Beasley, both listed at 5-8, are on the field a lot together. "I'd rather see it as two fast, quick guys," receivers coach Sanjay Lal said when asked about two small guys on the field at the same time. "Yes, an advantage I think." Hurns spent most of his four seasons with Jacksonville as an inside receiver but said his best year 鈥?the only 1,000-yard season among the dozen receivers the Cowboys brought to camp 鈥?came when he spent more time outside. Austin Cheap Kendall Wright Jersey , acquired in a trade with the Los Angeles Rams after five disappointing seasons as the eighth overall pick in 2013, had at least as many carries as catches three times in those five years. So there's little question he will move around in formations. But he probably won't be the only one moving around. "The main thing for us, everybody needs to know all three positions and get comfortable at what you've got to do," Hurns said. "Right now, no one has like a set position where you're just inside or just outside." And Beasley tends to think it doesn't matter. "You're still getting open and catching balls," he said. "It's about production, whether it's from the inside or outside. Wes Welker led the league in receiving as a slot receiver. We've got tons of guys who can do both. If you're a receiver, you're playing all of them." Michael Gallup, the first receiver drafted by Dallas post-Bryant as a third-rounder, is the rookie most likely to get significant playing time. Sixth-round pick Cedrick Wilson is probably out for the season with a shoulder injury sustained on the first day in pads at camp. The receiver best built for the outside is the easiest one to forget: 6-2, 210-pound Terrance Williams Cheap Rashaan Evans Jersey , Dallas' third-round choice five years ago. After breaking his foot in January, the former Dallas high school player was arrested for public intoxication in May coming off the first season of his career without a touchdown. Having recently settled all the claims with police in the Dallas suburb of Frisco, where the Cowboys have their headquarters, Williams is quietly trying to work his way into the rotation. Williams, who isn't talking to reporters during camp, has been getting first-team work after starting out with the second group at camp. "He's worked really hard to come back from the injury," coach Jason Garrett said. "He has been limited the whole time. We anticipated that. Hasn't hit any roadblocks where he's going backward." Williams isn't alone in switching spots on the depth chart. The Cowboys have been doing that since the start of the offseason. And it's not out of the question that it could continue into the regular season. "That's the one thing I like about the whole situation," Austin said. "I don't care who the one, two or three receiver is. The more people we've got, the faster we are." With the retirement of 15-year tight end Jason Witten, the Cowboys don't have a pass-catcher in his 30s. The oldest 鈥?by two months over Beasley 鈥?is another newcomer in journeyman Deonte Thompson. From Linehan's point of view Da'Ron Payne Jersey Elite , it's a young group. "Every day we're learning something about our guys," Linehan said. "Finding the balance is out here and the proof's in what you're able to do and how you're able to perform when you've got a matchup and you've got to win that matchup. We're finding who those guys are right now." The Detroit Lions have interviewed two of their current coordinators for their vacant head coaching job. The Lions announced the interviews with defensive coordinator Teryl Austin and offensive coordinator Jim Bob Cooter on Tuesday, a day after coach Jim Caldwell was fired . Austin was Detroit’s defensive coordinator for Caldwell’s entire four-year tenure. In 2014, the Lions became the ninth team in NFL history to finish the season allowing less than 70 yards rushing per game. Detroit lost Ndamukong Suh off that team and slipped defensively after that. The Lions have ranked 18th, 18th and 27th in total defense since then. Cooter was Detroit’s quarterbacks coach in 2014 and was promoted to offensive coordinator during the 2015 season. Austin was previously a secondary coach for the Baltimore Ravens and has also coached defensive backs for the Arizona Cardinals and Seattle Seahawks. Cooter served in various roles for the Denver Broncos, Kansas City Chiefs and Indianapolis Colts. Detroit has also signed safety Stefan McClure to a reserve-future contract. — . | ||

| The moment required brilliance. LeBron James delivered again. James banked in a running one-hander at the buzzer Myles Garrett Browns Jersey , giving the Cleveland Cavaliers a 105-103 win over Toronto on Saturday night in Game 3 and shoving the Raptors to the edge of their most devastating playoff exit. After the Raptors tied it on rookie OG Anunoby’s 3-pointer with eight seconds left, James took the inbounds pass, dribbled the length of the court and rose off the floor on the left side of the basket just feet from Toronto’s bench. Glass. Bucket. Bedlam. ”Tie game, down one,” James said. ”I live for those moments.” As the noise level in Quicken Loans Arena rose to jet-engine levels, the Cavs sprinted from the other end of the court and mobbed James. After some tight hugs, he was back atop the scorer’s table – just like he did after a last-second 3-pointer to win Game 5 against Indiana – and celebrated a win that was up for grabs. ”I’ve been doing that since I was like six, seven, eight years old,” James said. ”Maybe even before that. There’s a picture floating around of me beside a Little Tikes hoop with a saggy Pamper on and I was doing it back then and all the way up until now, at 33. ”Things that you dream about, that you get those opportunities and I’ve been fortunate enough to get a handful of those in some of the biggest moments in my career.” James finished with 38 points, Kevin Love added 21 and 16 rebounds and Kyle Korver scored 18 for the Cavs, who have won nine straight postseason games over the Raptors and may sweep them for the second straight year. The difference in the two teams is simple: One has James, the other doesn’t. ”I ran out of words a while ago Nyheim Hines Jersey Elite ,” said Korver, struggling to describe James’ latest heroics. ”I’ve seen him shoot that shot, that game-winner, countless times when he’s messing around in shootaround and practice. It’s always like, why would he shoot a shot like that – to win a playoff game? ”Unbelievable play. He did it again. He’s been so huge in those moments for us all year.” It was the fifth career postseason buzzer-beater for James, the second of these playoffs, and this one had maybe the highest degree of difficulty of them all. ”It is very difficult,” James said, smiling. ”Don’t try it at home.” Kyle Lowry scored 27 for Toronto, which played much more physically and clawed back in the fourth quarter while All-Star DeMar DeRozan was on the bench. DeRozan, despondent at not being able to do more or help when it mattered most, went just 3 of 12 from the field and scored eight points. ”It was extremely hard, extremely hard,” DeRozan said of being benched by coach Dwane Casey in the fourth. ”I never want to be over there watching. It definitely sucks to watch it. It was just one of those nights for me, personally. I kept thinking http://www.chargersauthorizedshops.com/authentic-kyzir-white-jersey , as long as we win, it cures everything.” Casey wanted to trap James on the final play, but he went by defenders at ”100 miles per hour.” Lowry knew James would take the ball up the left side, and once he pulled up there wasn’t much that could be done. ”Maybe we could have doubled him or made him go right,” Lowry said. ”You know he’s going left and he made a tough shot.” After winning the series’ first two games in Canada, the Cavs came home and won a brawl with the Raptors, who just can’t beat James. He’s 11-2 against Toronto in the past three postseasons. The three-time champion has ended the Raptors’ past two seasons, and despite playing with a different supporting cast, James is one win from a Toronto trifecta. We The North? He The North. Game 4 is Monday night, and the odds are stacked against the rattled Raptors. Of the 129 teams in NBA history to fall behind 3-0, none has come back to win. ”Fight,” Lowry said when asked what’s next. ”Rumble. What else are you gonna do?” This was supposed to be the Raptors’ season, the one that ended in triumph over James. Toronto had the East’s best record, the No. 1 seed, home-court advantage and a Cleveland team that appeared very beatable. But the Cavs stole Game 1 by a point in overtime Authentic Erick Aybar Jersey , and James scored 43 in a virtuoso Game 2 performance. Then, as he has done so many times, he ripped out Toronto’s hearts with a probable series-and-season-ending dagger, a shot that belongs right at the top of so many in his remarkable career. ”There was way more time than I needed,” he said. BLAME GAME The first half ended in frustration for the Raptors with DeRozan, Casey and his assistants screaming at the officials following a sequence that went against them. Serge Ibaka’s basket was originally counted and then waved off by the referees, and the reversal was doubly painful as Love buried a 3-pointer to put the Cavs ahead by 13. When the half ended, an incensed Casey, his suit coat flying open and his tie jumping off his chest, stormed off the floor. In the closing minutes, Ibaka was called for a foul on what appeared to be a clean block on James. ”I thought there were some bad calls down the stretch that all went against us,” DeRozan said. ”It still came down to a running, bank-shot, game-winner by LeBron.” LINEUP CHANGE Desperate to find something, anything http://www.titansauthorizedshops.com/authentic-harold-landry-jersey , to slow down the Cavs, Casey changed his starting lineup for Game 3. He inserted 6-foot guard Fred VanVleet and benched forward Ibaka, going with a smaller lineup There were no demonstrations by any players during the singing of the national anthem Thursday night at the Hall of Fame game. All players and coaches for the Chicago Bears and Baltimore Ravens stood as the NFL’s preseason began. The NFL modified its national anthem protocol in May, prohibiting any sort of demonstrations for 2018, but allowing players to remain in the locker room during ”The Star-Spangled Banner” if they chose to. Individual teams would be responsible for disciplining any demonstrators. The players’ union filed a grievance about the policy change, and late last month, the new policy was put on hold while the NFL and NFLPA work on a resolution. Those demonstrations were begun by then-49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick in 2016 when he kneeled during the anthem to protest racial inequality and social injustice. The kneeling and other displays of protest spread leaguewide, particularly when President Trump suggested team owners fire players who didn’t stand for the anthem. On Thursday night, everyone on the sideline stood. ”We as a group talked about it and decided that was what we were doing,” new Bears coach Matt Nagy said. ”It’s for unity and togetherness. The guys are really excited to come up with one deal as a team. They were all out there; from what we talked about, it happened.” — . | ||

| An immigrant who was living illegally in Indiana when he was arrested in a suspected drunken-driving crash that killed an NFL player had a history of misdemeanor convictions and arrests Authentic Jeff Locke Jersey , including at least two previous instances of driving under the influence, authorities said Tuesday. President Donald Trump drew added attention to Indianapolis Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson’s death on Twitter, calling the highway collision that killed him and another man ”disgraceful.” The president also prodded Democrats to work with him on illegal immigration and border security. The driver believed to be responsible for Sunday’s crash on Interstate 70 in Indianapolis had been deported twice in the last decade. Trump tweeted Tuesday: ”So disgraceful that a person illegally in our country killed (at)Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson. This is just one of many such preventable tragedies. We must get the Dems to get tough on the Border, and with illegal immigration, FAST!” In a second tweet, he added, ”My prayers and best wishes are with the family of Edwin Jackson, a wonderful young man whose life was so senselessly taken. (at)Colts.” Jackson was 26. The collision also killed his Uber driver, 54-year-old Jeffrey Monroe, who was not mentioned by the president. Police said both men were struck by a pickup truck driven by the suspect as they stood along I-70 after Jackson became ill. Since the 2016 campaign, Trump has regularly pointed to crimes connected to illegal immigration as evidence that the U.S. needs to build a wall along the Mexican border and tighten immigration policies. As president, he has threatened to withhold federal funding to cities with sanctuary city policies. A spokesman for Jackson’s family said they are devastated and planned no response to Trump’s tweets about the crash and the suspect’s immigration status. ”The family is in shock, as you can imagine. This obviously happened so unexpectedly,” Atlanta attorney Daniel Meachum said. The man suspected of causing the collision, 37-year-old Manuel Orrego-Savala, had a 2005 conviction for driving under the influence in Redwood City, California. He also has numerous other misdemeanor convictions and arrests in California and Indiana, said Immigration and Customs Enforcement spokeswoman Nicole Alberico. In the 2005 case Authentic Joaquin Benoit Jersey , he pleaded no contest to two separate drunken driving offenses and was given a brief jail sentence, San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe said Tuesday. Orrego-Savala remained jailed in Indianapolis but had not been formally charged in the crash. He appeared Tuesday before a judge who advised him of his rights. Indianapolis television station WRTV reported that Orrego-Savala told the judge through an interpreter: ”I wasn’t driving the car. I don’t know why I am here.” A police news release did not mention the presence of anyone else in the pickup truck. Orrego-Savala faces an initial court hearing Wednesday morning, prior to which a decision on formal charges in the case will be announced, said Peg McLeish, a spokeswoman for the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office. The Guatemala citizen, who gave officers a fake name when he was arrested, was deported in 2007 and 2009, police said. A breath test administered at the crash scene found that Orrego-Savala’s blood-alcohol content was almost 0.24 percent, or nearly three times Indiana’s legal limit of 0.08 percent, according to an affidavit. Orrego-Savala had prior run-ins with law enforcement for driving without a valid license, the affidavit said. The state trooper who discovered the wreckage shortly before 4 a.m. Sunday accidentally struck Monroe before he could stop, police said. State Police Sgt. John Perrine said investigators believe Monroe was already dead when the trooper’s car hit him in the center lane. He said a coroner would look into his specific cause of death. Orrego-Savala was walking away from the crash scene when the same trooper detained him. The fatalities come about two months after a California jury acquitted a Mexican man in the fatal July 2015 shooting of a woman on a San Francisco pier – a death that touched off a fierce national immigration debate. Jose Ines Garcia Zarate, who was acquitted of murder Nov. 30, had been deported five times and was wanted for a sixth deportation when Kate Steinle was killed. Garcia Zarate said the shooting was accidental and occurred when he picked up a gun wrapped in a T-shirt under a seat on the pier. Steinle’s death was often cited by Trump as a reason to crack down on illegal immigration. Jackson, who grew up in Atlanta, started eight games for the Colts during the 2016 season, finishing third on the team with 61 tackles. He was considered a possible starter at inside linebacker for 2017 but missed the season after suffering an injury during training camp. The 6-foot, 234-pound athlete previously played for the Arizona Cardinals. Colts owner Jim Irsay has offered to pay for both Jackson and Monroe’s funerals Cheap Tremaine Edmunds Jersey , the team’s chief operating officer, Pete Ward, said. — Associated Press writer Paul Elias in San Francisco contributed to this report. Jalen Ramsey got his hands dirty Tuesday for the first time since the birth of his daughter. Ramsey reported to Jacksonville Jaguars training camp and jumped right into the mix with the first-team defense, taking part in drills, talking trash and breaking up passes. Sweat, grass, dirt. It might have been the messiest Ramsey’s hands have been since he skipped the start of camp to remain in Tennessee with his girlfriend, Bre, and newborn daughter, Breelyn. That’s because the All-Pro cornerback, whose hands might be as valuable as anyone’s on that side of the ball, made a deal with Bre that he wouldn’t have to change diapers. ”We’ve been best friends since high school so we’ve always kind of talked about how the process would go a little bit,” Ramsey said. ”Of course, everything’s different when it actually happens, but for the most part, we have really good agreement that I won’t necessarily have to change diapers.” So what is Ramsey’s part of the trade-off? ”She changes the diapers; I feed her,” he said. Ramsey became a first-time father last Wednesday, the day the Jaguars reported for camp. He missed four practices to spend extra time with his family. Coach Doug Marrone excused his absences. ”It is good when everybody is together Seattle Seahawks Jerseys Womens , everyone is back in and everyone is in a good place mentally,” Marrone said. ”Just having that balance in your life, making sure everyone is good at home, making sure everyone is OK, making sure everything is set. Then you can get here and then you can focus and put your mind on what you need to do. It is always good when you can get everyone back in here, and I am glad everything worked out well.” Marrone had planned to work Ramsey in slowly, but the ultra-competitive, lock-down cornerback refused to stay on the sideline during his first day back. The Jaguars had to like what they saw, even though they’ve seen similar from him for two years now. Ramsey played in every game in two seasons and emerged as one of the league’s top defenders. He expects to be even better in Year 3. ”We’re going to see when the season starts, right?” he said. ”We’re going to see. And y’all will see. Y’all will see. I never give myself like goals. I guess you could say like, `Oh, I’m going to have this many interceptions; I’m going to have this many” pass breakups. ”But what I can tell you, though, that I will do is I’ll make sure I prepare myself and I’m ready to go out there and give it my all so I’m not letting anybody down, my teammates, coaches, my family, y’all http://www.ravensauthorizedshops.com/authentic-orlando-brown-jr.-jersey , fans. I can tell you that much.” He gets one of his toughest tests in the team’s season opener at the New York Giants and against three-time Pro Bowl receiver Odell Beckham Jr. ”Let’s get this out the way right now: He’s a good receiver. We all know that,” said Ramsey, the fifth overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft. ”But y’all know me at the same time. Yeah, he’s good. But I’m good, too. If y’all want to say he’s the best at his position; I’m the best at my position, so we’re going to go at it. We’re going to give the people a show the first game of the season. ”He’s going to have some wins; I’m going to have some wins. I just plan on having more wins.” Ramsey is the outspoken face of Jacksonville’s vaunted defense, a unit that was among the best in the league in 2017. The Jaguars return 10 starters on that side of the ball, including all four in the secondary, and expect to be even more dynamic in their second season together. ”At the end of the day, win games,” he said. ”If we can win games on the defensive side of the ball. We can always ask for more: More turnovers, more touchdowns, more opportunities giving the ball back to the offense. Just more of everything.” Except diapers. ”It feels good” to be back, Ramsey said. ”Miss my little girl already, but it feels good. It was cool. It was good. Long few days, but everything that I could have dreamed of.” — . | ||

| The only thing that Saquon Barkley has to prove at the NFL combine this week is that he’s every bit as good as advertised. ”For a guy like Barkley who has worked so hard to develop his gifts Hayden Hurst Jersey Elite , I mean, for him it ought to be a victory celebration. It really should,” NFL Network analyst Mike Mayock said. ”You got to come in and knock it down, one drill after another. ”He’s going to walk out of there four days later and everyone’s going to go: `Wow, he’s just as good or better than we thought he was.”’ Then, there would be no doubt that a running back will go in the top five picks of the draft for the third consecutive year, joining Ezekiel Elliott in 2016 and Leonard Fournette in 2017. The Penn State star might even be the first running back selected in the top two picks since Reggie Bush in 2006 or even the first to go No. 1 overall since another Nittany Lion, Ki-Jana Carter, in 1995. ”I’m just focused on coming out here and trying to dominate this combine,” Barkley said. Everyone expects him to do just that. General managers and coaches know all about the 5-foot-11, 233-pound back with a magnificent medley of jaw-dropping quickness and excellent acceleration Edwin Diaz Seattle Mariners Jersey , speed, balance, vision and power to go with an off-the-charts work ethic who helped Penn State dismantle Washington’s vaunted defense in the Fiesta Bowl . Mayock said Barkley will dazzle teams even when he’s not on his feet. ”When he goes into meetings at night,” Mayock said, ”he’s going to blow people away.” Barkley, who grew up boxing like his father and great uncle but was always drawn more to the gridiron than the ring, quickly rose to national prominence as one of the country’s most dynamic players as a true freshman at Penn State in 2015. He flashed a frenetic running style to compile a lengthy highlight reel full of hurdles, spin moves and jukes on his way to a program-best 43 rushing touchdowns in three years. Mayock said Barkley is at least equal to the last four top-10 running backs – Fournette, Elliott, Todd Gurley and Christian McCaffrey – all of whom made their teams significantly better as rookies. ”I could make the case that this kid Barkley is the best of those guys, best of all five of them Lukas Dostal Ducks Jersey ,” Mayock said. ”He’s clean off the field. And he’ll be great in your locker room. I would be absolutely stunned if this kid doesn’t go in the Top 5.” The Browns, Giants and Colts own the top three picks in next month’s draft. Cleveland also owns No. 4 and Denver has the fifth selection. ”Any team that wants to draft me,” Barkley said, ”is a blessing to me.” Barkley said he embraces the chance to transform a downtrodden team like the Browns, who have one win in two years, or the Giants, coming off a down year: ”You want to be part of something like that, something that’s bigger than yourself.” Whoever ends up choosing Barkley can expect to be picking a lot later in next year’s draft. (Fournette’s Jaguars are picking 29th this year, five picks after McCaffrey’s Panthers). Barkley averaged nearly 6 yards a carry as a junior in State College, rushing for 1,271 yards and 18 touchdowns and catching 54 passes for 632 yards and three TDs. He also completed two passes – one for a score – and returned two kickoffs for touchdowns. He won the Paul Hornung Award as college football’s most versatile player and left Penn State after his junior year just 89 yards shy of the program rushing record with 3 Authentic Trent Murphy Jersey ,843 yards. ”I feel whether I’m running the ball from the 99-yard line or the 1-yard line that I can find a way to get into the end zone. I can do it all, I feel like,” Barkley said. ”I can go over the top of you, I can beat you with speed, I can beat you with some wiggle, I could run through you.” That may come off as boastful, but not when Barkley says it. He said he watches all of today’s great NFL running backs but models his game after none of them. ”I’ve never wanted to be like anybody,” Barkley said. ”That’s something that my dad taught me growing up: `Never want to be like someone, be the next you.’ But I am a fan of the game, I’m a fan of the position and I watch everyone.” Including Barry Sanders on YouTube . If he had to pick anyone he’d like to be like, it’d be the Lions’ Hall of Famer. ”That was a great guy that I looked up to growing up not only on the field – off the field. The way he carried himself Calvin Ridley Color Rush Jersey , he was humble,” Barkley said. ”When he scored a touchdown, he’d give the ball to the ref. If you look at his football life, he’s carrying cups to his offensive linemen, and I think that’s what a running back should be about. That’s what our position should be about and I try to model myself after that.” — The New York Jets have tendered wide receiver Quincy Enunwa at the second-round level, worth $2.9 million. Enunwa was a restricted free agent after missing last season with a bulging disk in his neck that required surgery. He had a breakout season in 2016, catching 58 passes for 857 yards and four touchdowns. The Jets also tendered safety and special teams standout Rontez Miles and offensive lineman Brent Qvale with the right of first refusal. That means New York can match another team's offer within five days and keep them, but receive no draft compensation if they let them go. Tight end Neal Sterling was also given an original-round tender (seventh round). New York also re-signed three exclusive rights free agents: safety Doug Middleton, fullback Lawrence Thomas and tight end Eric Tomlinson. . | ||

| LAS VEGAS — The Vegas Golden Knights finish the regular-season home schedule of their inaugural season on Saturday night against the San Jose Sharks with a number of Fan Appreciation Week promotions. Among other things Authentic Patrick Omameh Jersey , after the game, players will hand-deliver their game-worn jerseys to select fans. And those could prove to be quite valuable if Vegas (49-22-7, 105) can garner at least one point against the Sharks. The Golden Knights, who have already earned a berth in the Stanley Cup playoffs, can clinch the Pacific Division title with one more point in their final four games. And what better place to do it than at T-Mobile Arena before finishing the regular season with a three-game western Canadian road trip to Vancouver, Edmonton and Calgary? “We’re trying to get as many points as we can,” Vegas coach Gerard Gallant said. “Somebody told me we’re one point away from clinching our division. That’s what the goal is. Let’s keep battling hard and playing hard and win as many games as we can.” It will be a quick turnaround for Vegas, which needed overtime on Friday night before defeating the St. Louis Blues, 4-3, as Jonathan Marchessault scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner 22 seconds into the extra period. The win helped to rinse some of the bad taste out of the mouths of the Golden Knights, who lost to Arizona, 3-2, at home in a lackluster performance two nights earlier. “Tonight, I was really happy with our performance, the way we competed and battled,” Gallant said. “I knew St. Louis was going to play that type of hockey game. They’re a team fighting for points, fighting for playoff position so you knew they were coming in hard. I was happy with it because it looked like a playoff game tonight.” San Jose (44-24-10 Chase Edmonds Jersey Elite , 98) also has a lot riding on the contest. The Sharks, coming in off a tough 5-3 loss at Western Conference-leading Nashville on Thursday night, can clinch a playoff berth for the 13th time in 14 years with a victory. “We’ve been playing playoff hockey I think for the last 10 or 15 games now,” defenseman Brenden Dillon said. “With this streak we have going (9-1-1), we’ve really put an emphasis on every night on not where the teams are in the standings and just being big-time games and showing up.” “I think we’ve felt all year that we can play with anybody,” San Jose coach Peter DeBoer said. “We still don’t have our whole lineup out there yet but I don’t think there’s any doubt that we can play with anybody else.” San Jose holds a four-point lead over the Los Angeles Kings for second place in the Pacific Division and has a game in hand. The Golden Knights and Sharks have played three games this season with two of them going into overtime. Vegas won the first meeting, 5-4, in overtime on a goal by Marchessault on Nov. 24 at T-Mobile Arena and followed that up with a 5-3 win at San Jose on Feb. 8. The Sharks won the last meeting on March 22 at home, 2-1, on Logan Couture’s goal 39 seconds into OT. Todd Bowles chuckled for a moment and then just couldn't resist the urge to break from his normally low-key, stoic public persona. The New York Jets coach had just been asked what his initial impressions were of first-round pick Sam Darnold at rookie minicamp Friday 鈥?and Bowles went wild. Well, sort of. "He was great! I want him to play right now!" a smiling Bowles shouted while slamming his left hand on the lectern for emphasis . It was stunning. And made a room filled with wide-eyed reporters laugh. Jets coach Todd Bowles was nothing if not emphatic in answering a question about his first impressions of quarterback Sam Darnold. More from @DWAZ73 on Darnold's first practice with the team: s://t.co/29rsGxtqZj pic.3rzUsi1tGP 鈥?AP NFL (@AP_NFL) May 4, 2018 Bowles has never been one to make bold declarations, especially after just one practice. So the coach jokingly mocked the question 鈥?while providing a video and sound clip like he never has before. Then again, Bowles and the Jets are hoping Darnold someday develops into the type of quarterback the likes of which this franchise has rarely, if ever, seen. "He was good," Bowles said http://www.broncosauthorizedshops.com/authentic-isaac-yiadom-jersey , still smiling. "Obviously, we threw the ball around a little bit and he's going to be getting better." Darnold was the No. 3 overall pick in the draft last week , surprisingly "dropping" into the Jets' lap after being rumored as a potential top overall selection for several months. Instead, Cleveland went with Oklahoma's Baker Mayfield and the Giants took Penn State running back Saquon Barkley at No. 2. That meant the team that has been craving a franchise quarterback since the glory days of Joe Namath had its guy: the 20-year-old Darnold, a could-be savior from USC who could soon be shouldering the pressure of leading the Jets out of a seven-year playoff drought. The kid who oozes California cool knows all about it. "Yeah, I embrace it, but I understand every single day that it's a process," Darnold said before his first practice of rookie camp. "You've got to come in here and earn respect. I'm not going to come in here and demand it." Darnold is fresh-faced, has a terrific head of reddish-blond hair, and should make for a target of companies looking for celebrity endorsers or magazines searching for a cover-boy athlete. Make no mistake, though, he's got an unrelenting competitive streak and lives and breathes football. Just moments after meeting with an overflow crowd of media armed with cameras and lots of questions, Darnold was back at his makeshift stall in the middle of the Jets' locker room, studying his playbook. "Just coming in here and understanding the position that I'm in 鈥?I'm a rookie," Darnold said. "I understand that. But at the same time, I understand that I'm a quarterback and that I've got to be a leader on the field and off it, as well." Darnold will have a chance to win the starting job this summer. His main competition, of course Preston Brown Color Rush Jersey , will be Josh McCown, the soon-to-be 39-year-old veteran who was the starter for most of last season. The Jets also have Teddy Bridgewater, still working his way back from a serious knee injury nearly two years ago, and Christian Hackenberg, a second-rounder in 2016 who has yet to see the field in a regular-season game. "We're giving him every chance," Bowles said of Darnold. "He's going to learn it as he goes. He might get the (first-team) reps as he goes, but we'll make that determination through preseason and see where we are at the end of it. But we're not holding him back. "We're not rushing him, at the same time, but we're not holding him back at all." Darnold was given a small chunk of the playbook to run through during rookie camp, with the team keeping things relatively simple to start. There were some ups 鈥?a few beautifully placed long throws 鈥?and some downs 鈥?two botched snaps and an interception on a tipped pass 鈥?while getting in his first on-field practice since late December. "It's a combination of being nervous," Darnold said, "but at the same time, I think it's more relief than anything just because I haven't been with a team, I haven't been inside the pocket for a long time." While Bowles' response to what he saw from Darnold was intentionally over the top, there's no doubt many Jets fans hope the rookie is under center in Week 1 鈥?and for years to come. Until then, though, Darnold is going about his business the only way he knows how. "Consistency, I think is the biggest thing David Dahl Colorado Rockies Jersey ," Darnold said. "I'm just going to come in here and be consistent every single day. | Ready or not Da'Ron Payne Redskins Jersey , the Cleveland Browns are getting their close-up. Coming off a historic, dismal 0-16 season, the Browns have been chosen to appear on HBO’s popular ”Hard Knocks” series that gives NFL fans a behind-the-scenes look at training camp. The Browns have turned down previous opportunities to be on the award-winning series. But with renewed optimism around Cleveland following the recent draft, and the selection of quarterback Baker Mayfield, the team is granting HBO unlimited access to its upcoming camp. Cleveland is the 13th franchise to participate in ”Hard Knocks,” which began in 2001 with the Baltimore Ravens. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were featured last summer. Although they’ve won only one game the past two seasons under coach Hue Jackson, the Browns see the show as a possibility to highlight some of their younger players and put a positive spin on their rebuild. And for HBO, Mayfield’s quest to win the starting job is just one of several juicy story lines. ”NFL Films has always been exceptional at bringing fans closer to the game and they do an outstanding job with every show they produce Los Angeles Rams Jerseys Womens , including HBO’s Hard Knocks,” Browns owners Dee and Jimmy Haslam said. ”We have been asked multiple times about being featured on Hard Knocks, and we really felt like it was our turn this year and the timing was right. We want to be great partners in this league, and we also recognize Hard Knocks gives fans a special opportunity to learn more about our team and players.” HBO’s cameras are certain to focus on Mayfield, the brash Heisman Trophy winner from Oklahoma the Browns chose over other quarterbacks. Mayfield is expected to back up Tyrod Taylor this season, but their competition could make for the kind compelling TV that has made the series a must-watch for football junkies. A 30-person film crew will be at the team’s training facility in Berea to record more than 2,000 hours of footage for the five-segment series that will debut Aug. 7. The Browns have some good young players who are not well known outside Cleveland. But ”Hard Knocks” will give national exposure to budding stars like defensive end Myles Garrett, Mayfield and safety Jabrill Peppers and give the network a chance to tell the well-documented story of former Pro Bowl wide receiver Josh Gordon Marshall Newhouse Color Rush Jersey , who has missed most of the past three seasons because of drug suspensions. Mayfield has experience in front of the cameras. He was recently featured in a recent documentary series as he prepared for the draft, and feels the Browns can make ”Hard Knocks” a positive experience. ”For me looking at it, and us as a team, I’d say it can be good if you handle it right. I’ll just say that,” he said on SiriusXM NFL Radio. ”If you think about it as a way to get on camera and try to show off and do certain things and handle it the wrong way then that can be very negative, it can be a distraction. But if you use it as a sense of, `OK, I got to block out everything else and just focus on playing ball Marcus Davenport Jersey ,’ then that can be a great thing for us.” Jackson and Browns defensive coordinator Gregg Williams have both been on ”Hard Knocks” – Jackson with the Cincinnati Bengals in 2013 and Williams with the Los Angeles Rams in 2016. ”Being able to bring our fans in so they can get to know our players and our organization in a different way will be a huge positive for us,” Jackson said. ”I want people to see how much our players and coaches care, how hard they work and how badly they want to win for Cleveland. This will be a great opportunity for our team.” Browns general manager John Dorsey had reservations about the series, but feels the team is equipped to handle the added scrutiny. ”Once we sat down and talked about it as an organization, I feel a lot better and understand why the time is right,” said Dorsey, who has been overhauling the team since being hired in December. ”Hue and I both feel like this team is in a good place and that we are in the process of building something that will lead to success.” — The Minnesota Vikings have hired Todd Downing as a senior offensive assistant, bringing him back to his hometown team after serving last year as offensive coordinator of the Oakland Raiders. Downing will begin his 18th season in the NFL Authentic Jake Arrieta Jersey , the first five of which were with the Vikings as an intern, systems analyst and quality control coach. He was promoted to offensive coordinator in Oakland in 2017 after two years as quarterbacks coach. Downing has also been with the St. Louis Rams, Detroit Lions and Buffalo Bills. He played quarterback at Eden Prairie High School, just a few miles from Vikings headquarters. Downing first started coaching at his alma mater under Mike Grant, the son of Pro Football Hall of Famer and former Vikings coach Bud Grant. . | ||

Former Arizona congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and her husband, retired astronaut Mark Kelly, operate an anti-gun violence organization, and reached out to Kraft for assistance. — LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles Dodgers starter Kenta Maeda will take the mound Saturday against a Colorado Rockies team that he has had success against over the past three years. Colorado Rockies starter German Marquez will take the mound Saturday on the road, where he has been excellent outside of the shadow of the Rocky Mountains. Something has to give at Dodger Stadium in a nationally televised game Kyle Long Bears Jersey , when Dodgers right-hander Maeda (5-4, 3.44 ERA) faces off against Rockies right-hander Marquez (5-8, 5.53). The Rockies won the first game of the series 3-1 on Friday, and Maeda will try halt the Dodgers’ two-game losing streak. Since returning from the disabled list after being sidelined by a hip strain, Maeda has posted a 2.87 ERA over three starts, including a scoreless seven-inning outing Monday against the Chicago Cubs when he struck out nine and picked up the win. The nine strikeouts were reminiscent of his best stretch of the season before his injury, when he struck out 32 batters over 24 1/3 innings Vinny Curry Color Rush Jersey , including a season-best 12 strikeouts in 6 2/3 shutout innings against the Rockies on May 23. “Ever since coming off the DL, feeling-wise, this is the best I have felt,” Maeda said through an interpreter, after holding the Cubs in check during a 2-1 Dodgers victory Monday. “Overall it was a much better feeling coming into this game than the other ones.” Especially troublesome for the Rockies is that Maeda figures to be fresh for Saturday’s outing, having thrown just 84 pitches in his latest start. Then there is this: Maeda is 5-2 in eight career appearances (six starts) with a 2.11 ERA against the Rockies with 48 strikeouts. Marquez has struggled lately, having gone 1-4 in June with an 8.53 ERA Anthony Miller Jersey , but there is no doubting his road success this year. He has a 7.93 ERA at home, but that mark falls off dramatically to 3.07 in 41 innings on the road. In fact, the Rockies have won four of Marquez’s seven road starts this season. Marquez is 1-0 with a 3.91 ERA in four career starts against the Dodgers. His two outings against them this season have been a mixed bag. On May 21 in Los Angeles, Marquez gave up one run over seven innings in a 2-1 Rockies victory. On June 2 at Colorado, he gave up four runs over six innings, although he didn’t factor into the decision as the Dodgers rolled to a 12-4 victory. In his four starts since then, Marquez has given up at least five runs in each time. He gave up a combined 10 runs (nine earned) in his last two starts Michael Brantley Jersey , both of which came at home. “I know I have been in the league two years and if I execute my pitches, it doesn’t matter how long they have known me,” Marquez told reporters, through an interpreter, after he gave up six runs (five earned) on nine hits in 3 1/3 innings in an eventual 8-5 loss to the Miami Marlins on Sunday. “It’s about me executing my pitches. Marquez will face a Dodgers team that has 54 home runs in June, the most in franchise history for a single month. .

| New York Mets prospect Peter Alonso and Cleveland’s Francisco Mejia are among the top minor leaguers selected for the 20th annual Futures Game. The teams announced Friday include 15 former first-round draft picks for the game July 15 at Nationals Park. The Dominican Republic leads the world roster with nine players. Missing is Toronto’s top prospect Customized Green Bay Packers Jerseys , Vladimir Guerrero Jr., who’s out with a strained left knee. He had a 50-game hitting streak two years ago, the longest since the minors reorganized in 1963. The U.S. team will be managed by Torii Hunter. David Ortiz will handle the world team. — Deshaun Watson was back in a game this week for the first time since surgery to repair a right knee injury in November, and although he didn't play long, he relished his return. "I just played five snaps http://www.buffalobillsteamonline.com/josh-allen-jersey , handed the ball off, threw one pass," Watson said. "So, it wasn't too bad. Good to just go out there for a couple plays and then watch everyone else perform." The Houston Texans quarterback is looking to build on his limited action as the team prepares for two practices with the San Francisco 49ers next week before hosting them in their second preseason game on Saturday. Watson's health and development in his second year will be critical as Houston tries to bounce back from a season filled with injuries during which the team went 4-12 for its first losing season since 2013. Though he played in just seven games before tearing his anterior cruciate ligament in practice, Watson gave the Texans optimism that he'll be the answer to their longtime problems at the position. He threw for 1,699 yards and 19 touchdowns and ran for 269 yards and two more scores after Houston traded up to select him with the 12th overall pick in the 2017 draft. Saturday was the team's first practice back in Houston after the Texans spent the first part of training camp in West Virginia. Although they had to adjust to the hotter temperatures at home, Watson and the Texans got a boost from working out in front of several hundred cheering fans. "The climate ... it's hot and muggy but at the end of the day we have to come out here and play football and perform and just focus on our task Authentic Kemoko Turay Jersey ," he said. "So, it's always good to have the fans around and show love. They give us energy and high hopes for this season." The 22-year-old said he's grown a lot since arriving in Houston last season and is looking forward to building on what he did last year. "Just really (grown) as a person as a whole and then just the knowledge of the game," he said. "Just being able to understand the offense, understand what the defense is doing and just play faster, just go out there and play and not overthink things." Coach Bill O'Brien, who worked with Tom Brady when he was an assistant with the Patriots, has enjoyed watching Watson develop and is looking for ways to help him take another step. "I think there's areas where he and I need to grow together Customized Houston Texans Jerseys , like in the red area," he said. "We're a little bit behind there but we have to work together on that and see if we can execute better down there, but I think there's a lot of areas where he's gotten better and better, and he'll only get better and better because he works at it and the experience he gets will really help him." Watson is working behind a revamped offensive line this year after last year's group allowed the second-most sacks in the league. So far, he likes the way the unit is coming together. "Guys just building chemistry, working hard each and every day, never complaining Patriots Trent Brown Jersey ," Watson said. "They make mistakes, but at the end of the day they correct those mistakes and don't make it twice, just like everyone else on the offense. Just guys that love to play football. They have a passion about going in ... and putting in the work, and (are) passionate about winning." . | ||

He spent the past three seasons as a defensive quality control analyst at South Florida, his college alma mater. — The Detroit Lions had a key player on offense come back from an injury and one walk off the field during practice. Wide receiver Marvin Jones returned to practice a day after injuring his left leg. Running back LeGarrette Blount, meanwhile, slowly walked off the field with a trainer during Sunday’s practice. It was not clear why Blount went back inside the team’s training facility. Jones got tangled up with a teammate on Saturday and landed awkwardly. The training staff evaluated his left leg and he was held out of the rest of practice. Under the rising sun the next day Youth Ito Smith Jersey , Jones was in full uniform with his teammates and didn’t appear to be affected by whatever was ailing him. ”I’m out there rolling,” Jones said. ”It’s the first day of pads and I’m going to be out there.” Jones insisted he wasn’t scared that his injury could’ve been more serious. Detroit coach Matt Patricia said Jones was evaluated before going back onto the field. ”He’s good,” Patricia said. ”He’s fine, but we’re always a little bit cautious the day after.” The Lions will be counting on Jones to be one of Matthew Stafford’s top targets again this season. And Baker Mayfield Jersey Youth , they’re hoping Blount can bolster a running game that has been poor in recent years. Jones had a career-high 1,101 yards receiving last season. He also had 61 receptions and caught nine touchdown passes, falling just short of career highs in both categories. Over the past three seasons – two in Detroit and one with the Cincinnati Bengals – he has averaged 60 catches and 949 yards receiving. ”Any player in the league, they want to be consistent and kind of stay on top for the length of their careers Chiefs Elite Jerseys ,” he said. Detroit signed the 31-year-old Blount in the opening days of free agency after he helped Philadelphia and New England win the past two Super Bowls. The Lions have been one-dimensional on offense in recent years because they simply couldn’t run the ball consistently. Even if Jones catches fewer balls because the team is moving the ball on the ground, he is all for it. ”It starts up front,” Jones said. ”You want to run and that’s going to open up everything and vice versa.” NOTES: Patricia said CB Nevin Lawson missed Saturday’s practice for personal reasons. … C Wesley Johnson invited Jay Fullam, one of his former teammates at Vanderbilt Youth Josey Jewell Jersey , and his Air Force squadron to practice. — .

When a new coach comes in, it’s always interesting to see who lines up with the first-team units. One of the surprises for the New York Giants was seeing Josh Mauro at defensive end during the first practice at organized team activities this week. Mauro knows the 3-4 system that is being installed by new defensive coordinator James Bettcher. The drawback is that the five-year veteran is not going to be on the field when new coach Pat Shurmur and the Giants open the season at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He will be starting a four-game suspension for violating the league’s policy on performance-enhancing drugs. The NFL handed down the suspension days after the 27-year-old Mauro signed a one-year contract with the Giants. The team knew it was coming before signing him. ”They have confidence in me,” Mauro said. ”They are giving me an opportunity here. I just want to give them everything I have to return that favor. It means a lot to me and I want to give them everything I have.” Mauro has accepted responsibility for using the drug. He purchased an over-the-counter supplement and didn’t know it contained a banned substance. A trace amount of it was found in a test. It was not present in a test a week later. He also doesn’t see a team that was 3-13 last season. ”There are a lot of positives up here,” the former Stanford product said. ”This is probably the toughest division (NFC East) in the NFL, so there are a lot of opportunities to play great teams. And just this city, it’s the ultimate football city.” Mauro may train with the Giants and participate in training camp. The Sharks had numerous opportunities all night but were thwarted by a couple of shots that hit the iron, some acrobatic saves from Fleury and other chances that trickled just wide. This marked the fourth straight postseason for the Sharks that ended with a loss on home ice. ”It’s very disappointing, you get this far and lose, it’s disappointing Mike Remmers Color Rush Jersey ,” Sharks forward Logan Couture said. ””It’s extra disappointing when you don’t play the way that you know that you’re capable of. … That’s something that’s very difficult to take.” The Golden Knights took control of this game with some good fortune in the second period. It started when usually reliable Marc-Edouard Vlasic turned the puck over in his own zone. Reilly Smith took control near the blue line and found Marchessault alone in front for a goal that trickled between Martin Jones‘ pads. The Golden Knights then added to the lead after an icing by Brent Burns led to an offensive zone faceoff. David Perron beat Tierney on the draw and Schmidt took a shot that appeared to deflect off the post and out. Play went on for 25 more seconds before the buzzer rang, with the situation room in Toronto calling for a video review. That quickly showed that the puck bounced off the post, off a piece equipment inside the net and out. Vegas then had a delayed celebration for the goal that made it 2-0. ”I had no idea,” Schmidt said. ”I’d never seen something like that happen where they blew the play dead, but when I was skating back to the bench and all the guys were yelling, `It’s in.”’ That was the type of bounce the Sharks didn’t get early in the game when they hit the post or crossbar three times in the opening period and then again in the third when they tried to cut into Vegas’ lead. They also had several other chances that either Fleury turned aside with acrobatic saves, trickled just wide or they were unable to get a clean shot 49ers Elite Jerseys , like a rebound Couture whiffed on from the slot in the first period with an open net. ”It’s a fine line,” coach Peter DeBoer said. ”I think we had a couple of those that didn’t go in. That’s hockey. But Vegas deserves to be moving on. They played great. They finished the chances when they needed to and got saves when they needed to.” NOTES: Jones made 30 saves. … Vegas F William Carrier was scratched with a lower-body injury and replaced by Ryan Reaves, who played his first game this postseason. — .

| Before he left town a few weeks ago after working out for the Seahawks Authentic Geron Christian Jersey , Brandon Marshall picked up a little bit of Seattle-related gear at the airport. He was that confident an opportunity to continue his career was going to happen with the Seahawks. "I went in there and bought a couple of things, some shirts, socks because I knew that moment was going to happen. I felt good about the workout," Marshall said. Marshall became the latest addition to the Seahawks when he signed a one-year deal Wednesday and was immediately on the field as Seattle continued its second week of OTAs. Marshall displayed some of that gear he bought when he announced on social media his intent to sign with the Seahawks. His work was limited in his first day, understandably, but it was a sign of how quickly Marshall wants to get this latest 鈥?maybe last 鈥?phase of his career started. Marshall is coming off an abbreviated 2017 season where he was limited to five games with the New York Giants due to an ankle injury that required surgery. He was due to make $5 million this season with New York but was released by the Giants in mid-April. At age 34, Marshall said he didn't have many options after he was released. "I think the sentiment around the league is that I'm done. And I get it, rightfully so, when you get on the other side of 30 and your production slips and you have a big injury. People count you out," Marshall said. "It was an interesting process. It was a humbling process." While Marshall had his ankle repaired surgically, he also had surgery on his toe for an injury suffered during the 2015 season while with the New York Jets. The combination of procedures extended Marshall's recovery, and it was only just before being released by the Giants that he was able to progress beyond just rehabilitation from the surgeries. Marshall said he was originally going to wait until he retired to have the toe surgery. "That's the thing that took the longest. Right when I was released from the Giants, probably a few days later I was able to run pain free. I was able to run routes and do things and train while rehabbing Youth Donte Jackson Jersey , but it wasn't pain free. ... I've been working ever since. I feel good. I don't feel great. Obviously I've got a lot of catching up to do." Getting Marshall to Seattle is the fulfillment of a wish coach Pete Carroll had early in his tenure with the Seahawks. At that time, Marshall was in the prime of his career and Seattle wanted to make a show of its lakefront practice facility by bringing him in on a seaplane for the visit. "We flew him into the dock or something like that. It was crazy," Carroll recalled. "We went all out. It didn't work out. We've had our eye on him for a long time because of his style of play. Very aggressive. Can be the big receiver in the offense and his playmaking has always been something we've kept our eye on." The question for Seattle and Marshall is what kind of role he can play now. Carroll has made it clear this offseason that the team is going to be rededicated to the run, but Marshall could certainly be a desired red zone target thanks to his 6-foot-4 frame and the absence of another player like him on the roster. He is three years removed from being a second-team All-Pro in 2015, when he caught 109 passes and 14 touchdowns with the Jets. Marshall said he had a very candid conversation with the Seahawks during his visit. "The process they take you through in terms of the screening process is worse than the TSA line," Marshall said. "They did their due diligence to say the least and really broke down everything since I've been in the league and had some great conversations, some transparent conversations, some challenging conversations and I had to answer some tough questions." PHILADELPHIA — The top-seeded Philadelphia Eagles will compete in their first playoff game in four years when they host the Atlanta Falcons in the NFC divisional round Saturday at Lincoln Financial Field. The Eagles lost MVP candidate, quarterback Carson Wentz, down the stretch but still managed to finish 13-3 and earn the No. 1 seed with backup Nick Foles. Ironically, Foles was the quarterback in 2013 when the Eagles fell to the New Orleans Saints 26-24. The Falcons received the sixth and final playoff spot in the NFC, then promptly traveled to the West Coast and defeated the Los Angeles Rams 26-13 in the wild-card round. Philadelphia became the first No. 1 seed to open as an underdog in the playoffs. In the last two regular-season games, the offense sputtered under Foles with a 19-10 win over the Oakland Raiders and a 6-0 loss to the Dallas Cowboys. Foles did sit out the majority of the regular season finale against the Cowboys. “Yeah Dan Bailey Cowboys Jersey , there’s going to be wonder,” Eagles coach Doug Pederson said when asked how his team will respond in the postseason. “But I’m going to tell you, ‘Listen, these guys are football players.’ I think sometimes the outside, whether it be the media, the fans, can make it bigger than it really is. When you boil it down, it’s football at the end of the day. It’s football at the end of the day. Just go do your job. “Do what you’ve been coached to do all week long and give it your best effort on Saturday. If it’s good enough, great. If it’s not, then we focus on next season.” Foles was 4 of 11 for 39 yards and an interception against the Cowboys and struggled to throw the ball downfield. Third-string quarterback Nate Sudfeld was 19 of 23 for 134 yards, but the Eagles have repeatedly made it clear that Foles is the starter. “As much as we and everybody else wants to run the football, you have to be able to stay aggressive in the pass game and get the ball down the field,” Eagles offensive coordinator Frank Reich said. “Nick has proven that over the length and entirety of his career. He not only can get the ball downfield Michael Gallup Jersey Elite , he can do so very well. He wants to throw the ball downfield. He’s aggressive in his mindset, as aggressive a guy as I’ve been around. He’s looking to throw it down the field. Some guys are the dink-and-dunk kind of guys. That’s not Nick. Nick is aggressive. “So we need to be good in the run game and be able to mix in our play-action, take our shots down the field, keep the defense off guard and keep them guessing and that starts with good production on first down,” Reich added. The Falcons, who finished the regular season at 10-6, are preparing for their second road playoff game. Quarterback Matt Ryan (personal reasons) and wide receiver Julio Jones (ankle, ribs) both missed practice Tuesday but are expected to start on Saturday. Ryan was 21 of 30 for 218 yards and a touchdown in the 13-point win over the Rams. It was his first road playoff win in three starts. “We’re not here just to get here,” Ryan told reporters. “We want to make noise while we’re here. This is what it’s all about. It’s about giving yourself the opportunity this time of the year to compete and play in games like this, and to win games like this.” Ryan led Atlanta to the Super Bowl last season in what wound up being a heartbreaking overtime loss to the New England Patriots. He was able to guide the Falcons back to the postseason once again. “He’s a hell of a competitor, and those of you that know him know the nice guy you see through the media, but in between those white lines, he is a wolf Hayden Hurst Youth Jersey ,” Atlanta coach Dan Quinn told ESPN.com. “I love what he stands for as a competitor, and his teammates know that, too. I thought there’s all sorts of examples, getting hit and bouncing back up, getting ready for the next one. He really showed that kind of toughness to his teammates.” Ryan, who was raised in nearby Exton, Pa., and attended Penn Charter High School — is 1-3 all-time against the Eagles in Philadelphia. The Falcons forced a pair of huge fumbles and turned them into 10 points against the Rams. Kicker Matt Bryant also booted four field goals. “We know that they’re a good team, and we know that they beat us last year,” Atlanta free safety Ricardo Allen told ESPN.com of the Eagles. “We know we’re going to have to go there and fight.” . | ||

| Police say former Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Adam "Pacman" Jones was attacked during a run-in with a facility-service employee at the airport in Atlanta. Atlanta Police spokesman Jarius Daugherty says Jones confronted ABM Industries employee Frank Ragin after Ragin made a "gesture" toward the football player Tuesday night at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Police say words were exchanged before Ragin struck Jones with a closed fist Jorge Alfaro Jersey , causing a cut to Jones' face. Cellphone video footage shows that Jones and Ragin traded several punches with each other. Jones ultimately knocked Ragin down to the ground with a punch to the face then hit the employee one more time before a man broke up the fight. Daugherty says that at some point during the fight, Ragin ended up hitting a woman who was with Jones, injuring her hand. He says Ragin was the aggressor and Jones defended himself. Jones and his friend declined medical treatment. Ragin was arrested on two counts of battery and taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for injuries. Jones, a one-time Pro Bowler, spent eight seasons with the Bengals. He's also played for the Tennessee Titans and Dallas Cowboys. Even though police determined Jones wasn't at fault Malik Jefferson Color Rush Jersey , the NFL veteran has had other off-the-field issues. He pleaded guilty to misdemeanor charge after his confrontation last year with hotel security personnel and an obscenity-filled tirade against arresting police officers. Police said Jones kicked and used head-butting as he was arrested for allegedly assaulting a hotel employee. The NFL suspended Jones for one game for a violation of its personal conduct policy. This story has been edited to correct that Jones is a former player of the Cincinnati Bengals. Arizona Cardinals rookie wide receiver Christian Kirk took the field Tuesday for the first time since a report surfaced about his arrest in the months before the team chose him in the second round of the NFL draft. Kirk ran routes, caught passes and took part in special teams work. He was not made available to reporters. But head coach Steve Wilks was asked about Kirk following Tuesday’s full-team mini-camp practice at the Cardinals facility and he said the team knew about the arrest. ”We did our own independent research on it, and we felt very good about the information we received,” Wilks said. ”That’s why we moved forward and really drafted him. And as I stated before, we want to bring in great character guys http://www.49ersauthorizedshops.com/authentic-weston-richburg-jersey , and I think Christian is one of those guys.” Kirk, 21, who is from nearby Scottsdale and who played his college ball at Texas A&M, was arrested the night of Feb. 3 outside the Waste Management Phoenix Open golf tournament on charges of disorderly conduct and property damage. According to police, Kirk was with a group that was intoxicated and throwing rocks at cars. Wilks said he believes the matter will be resolved in a couple of months. ”With it still being an ongoing legal issue Darius Leonard Colts Jersey , I’m not going to go into it any further than that,” Wilks said. NOTES: Wilks mentioned the strong practice performances of RB David Johnson, who is coming off a dislocated wrist injury that cut short his 2017 season in Week 1, and rookie first-round pick QB Josh Rosen. ”Some of his timing and his throws with the quarterback and the tight ends I thought were right on point,” Wilks said. … QB Mike Glennon came off the field early in practice with a trainer. Wilks said Glennon had a stomach problem. The coach expects him to be on the field Wednesday. — . | ||

| The Las Vegas Stadium Authority has signed the final documents necessary to build the future home of the Raiders. Team President Marc Badain and authority chairman Steve Hill signed the lease and development agreements on Wednesday for the $1.8 billion Cheap Markus Wheaton Jersey , 65,000-seat stadium that also will serve as home to the UNLV Rebels. The two shook hands before Hill declared, "Let's build a stadium." The move came a day after NFL owners voted 31-1 to approve the stadium plans and financing, including a $200 million loan from the league. The domed stadium is scheduled to be completed by Aug. 1, 2020. The Raiders have said that the total cost of the move from Oakland to Las Vegas, including a training facility and headquarters, will top $2 billion. The signing of the lease agreement 鈥?more than a year in the works 鈥?clears the way for the Clark County Commission to consider issuing construction bonds for the project. A total of $750 million in Clark County hotel room tax revenue will go toward the project. As part of the deal, the 62-acre stadium site that the Raiders purchased last year for $77.5 million is scheduled to be transferred to the Stadium Authority on Friday. The climate-controlled stadium where the team wants to kick off the 2020 season will feature 80-foot-tall retractable doors that will give fans a view of the casino-resorts on the Strip. Nevada officials expect 450,000 people a year to travel to Las Vegas primarily to attend an event at the venue, whether it's a Raiders or college football game, a concert or motorsports event. Don Webb, an adviser to the Raiders Authentic Roquan Smith Jersey , told the authority board last week that the stadium roof will be made of a polymer that will allow natural light in, and an exterior ribbon-like structure that will help push fresh air into the venue and exhaust out. He said the light transmitting portion of the roof is about 550 feet (167 meters) wide by 750 feet (228 meters) long. The stadium will look black from outside during the daytime, but on the inside it will be transparent to the outside. At night, the lights inside the venue will be visible from outside. Stand or stay out of sight. Looking to quell a national debate that was sparked by Colin Kaepernick, stoked by President Trump and some say chipped away at the very popularity of America’s game, NFL owners approved a new policy Wednesday that allows players to protest during the national anthem by staying in the locker room but forbids them from sitting or taking a knee if they’re on the field. Commissioner Roger Goodell called it a compromise aimed at putting the focus back on football after a tumultuous year in which television ratings dipped nearly 10 percent. He said it was unanimously approved by NFL owners, but that was immediately called into question when the head of the San Francisco 49ers – Kaepernick’s former team, no less – said he abstained from the vote. The owner of the New York Jets also took a more conciliatory approach, promising not to punish any player who continues to protest against social injustice in full view of fans. The players’ union said it wasn’t consulted in the talks and would file a grievance against any change in the collective bargaining agreement. The owners seemed to address that concern by saying only teams would be fined for violations, not individual players. But the league also cleared the way for teams to set their own workplace policies, raising the specter of an even more convoluted approach to an issue that has dominated conversation away from the field. The head of the NFL Players Association, DeMaurice Smith Authentic Roquan Smith Jersey , angrily denounced the new policy and called it a blow against America’s most basic of rights – freedom of speech. Since the new policy is a change in the terms and conditions of employment that was not collectively bargained, any attempts to fine individual players would surely be opposed by the union. ”Management has chosen to quash the same freedom of speech that protects someone who wants to salute the flag in an effort to prevent someone who does not wish to do so,” Smith wrote on Twitter. ”I know that not all of the NFL CEO’s are for this and I know that true American patriots are not cheering today.” So, what happens to a player who decides to keep kneeling during ”The Star-Spangled Banner?” Considering Kaepernick is heading into his second year without a job and a former teammate and fellow protester, Eric Reid, is also out of work, it seemed to clear to at least one player what message the NFL was trying to send. ”If the team says `this is what we’re doing,’ and ownership (does too), you either deal with it or you’re probably going to get cut,” Pittsburgh Steelers guard Ramon Foster said. ”They’ll find a way to get you up out of there.” Arizona Cardinals safety Antoine Bethea, who has been in the league for a dozen years, scoffed at Goodell’s notion that this was a step toward appeasing all sides. ”If you want to use your right of freedom of speech and take a knee Authentic Nyheim Hines Jersey , you’re going to get fined,” Bethea said. ”So it’s really not a compromise. But they did give us the option as far as guys wanting to stay in the locker room. It’s going to be something guys are going to have to deal with. Either it’s going to be a team thing and everybody stays in the locker room or everybody goes out and stands.” 49ers CEO Jed York said every owner who voted was in agreement with the new policy, but he abstained because he wasn’t comfortable with a process that didn’t directly involve the players. He wouldn’t say if any other owners declined to vote. ”I want to work with my team to make sure everything we do is about promoting the right types of social justice reform and getting to a better America,” York said. Jet owner Christopher Johnson said his team will pay any fines doled out by the league, without passing on punishment to the players. ”I will support our players wherever we land as a team,” Johnson said. ”Our focus is not on imposing any club rules, fines or restrictions.” Clearly, Goodell and most owners just want to put the divisive issue behind them. The NFL started requiring players to be on the field for the anthem in 2009 – the year it signed a marketing deal with the military. ”We want people to be respectful of the national anthem. We want people to stand,” said Goodell, who dismissed concerns about the lack of union involvement by contending the league met with countless players over the past year. ”We’ve been very sensitive on making sure that we give players choices,” the commissioner added, ”but we do believe that moment is an important moment and one that we are going to focus on.” The owners spent more than three hours over two days addressing the contentious issue – which made it all the way to the White House. Kaepernick Redskins Cheap Jerseys , the former 49ers quarterback, began kneeling during the national anthem in 2016, a quiet but powerful protest against police brutality and racial inequities in the justice system that has drawn both praise and scorn. Other players took up the cause, and the gesture carried on during the 2017 season even after Kaepernick left the 49ers and failed to be picked up by another team. Trump turned the debate into a campaign issue , saying the NFL should fire any player who takes a knee during ”The Star-Spangled Banner.” The NFL hasn’t gone that far, but Kaepernick and Reid believe they are being singled out as leaders in the movement. Both have filed collusion grievances against the NFL . There was no immediate comment from Trump on the new policy, but Vice Pres. | ||

| The Los Angeles Rams will get to make up for lost time with eight picks on Day 3 of the NFL draft on Saturday. With four picks in both the fourth and sixth rounds Sean Lee Cowboys Jersey , the Rams will have plenty of chances to address needs in the defensive front seven. The Rams have to replace outside linebackers Robert Quinn and Connor Barwin, who combined for 13.5 sacks last season, and inside linebacker Alec Ogletree, who led the team with 95 tackles. Head coach Sean McVay identified replenishing depth throughout the roster as another goal, something they accomplished with their lone selection so far by taking TCU offensive tackle Joe Noteboom in the third round. Noteboom could serve as the swing tackle while being groomed as the eventual successor to Andrew Whitworth at left tackle. Special teams contributions will also be a priority as several core players are expected to fill larger roles this season. __ — Because he isn’t likely to play more than a series or two in Friday’s preseason opener Cheap JK Scott Jersey , Detroit quarterback Matt Stafford has a few modest goals for the Lions offense. “Just execute and communicate at a high level,” Stafford said Wednesday. “Get out there and communicate and make sure everybody’s on the same page. At the end of the day, on offense if everybody’s communicating on the same page you’re going to have a chance to be successful. That’s the biggest thing, go out there and make sure that we’re just playing good, sound football.” The Lions spent the past two days conducting joint workouts with Oakland at the Raiders’ training camp facilities in the heart of Napa Valley wine country. Following Tuesday’s 2 1/2-hour practice Eduardo Escobar Minnesota Twins Jersey , which was highlighted by a multi-player brawl that ended a team scrimmage session, the Lions packed up to travel to a hotel 75 miles south of Napa where they’ll stay until Friday’s game. Detroit first-year coach Matt Patricia declined to say how much Stafford and the rest of the Lions starters will play. “I’m just trying to get through today’s practice and make sure I get everybody going in the right direction,” Patricia said prior to Tuesday’s practice. “We’ll find out on Friday.” The Lions’ first offense had an uneven day against the Raiders during the team scrimmage. They were flagged for three penalties and sputtered on their initial drive before Stafford found wide receivers Kenny Golladay and Marvin Jones Jr. for deep completions. “I feel physically good,” Stafford said. “Obviously another year in the system is going to hopefully help me expand my ability within the system to get us into the best plays possible. I feel very comfortable at the line of scrimmage doing our thing, but I can always be better. I’m always trying to find ways to improve and to get the ball to those playmakers at a higher clip.” Stafford passed for 4 DJ Chark Color Rush Jersey ,446 yards with 29 touchdowns and 10 interceptions in 2017, his seventh consecutive season with 4,200 yards or more. The 30-year-old quarterback also had a career-best 99.3 passer rating. Detroit, which hasn’t made it past the wild card round of the playoffs since 1991, won three of its final four games down the stretch but failed to advance to the postseason. Although he won’t be on the field very long Friday Authentic Customized Titans Jerseys , Stafford is relishing playing in a game after mostly practicing against Detroit’s defense before the two workouts with Oakland. “It’s a good change-up,” Stafford said. “We have to go out and prepare for another defense a night before. You don’t have a ton of time to look at them. You just go out there and try to execute your stuff as well as you can. I’ve got players on this team that I’ve never played an NFL game with before so it’s going to be to see how they go about their business and how they react.” Tuesday’s practice got chippy when Lions defensive end Anthony Zettel hit Raiders backup guard Jon Feliciano from the side, sparking a fracas involving multiple players before they were eventually pulled apart. . | ||
