Be it a crazy torrential cloudburst or a mild drizzle, monsoons have a way of getting in the way of your daily workout.

Plus, with the weather indoors being so cozy where nothing is more inviting than hitting the couch and gorging on comfort snacks. Fitness levels can sink to an all time low. This however, is no reason to fret. Just change the way you approach your workout to maintain your fitness levels —monsoon or no monsoon.

1. Timings

Don't change your workout timing because of the rains. If you work out at a particular time, and can't make it to the gym because of the rains, do indoor exercises like spot running and dancing to keep fit.

2. Equipment

Purchase some exercise equipment like resistance bands or a skipping rope, as they offer a lot of combinations for indoor workouts. Also, a treadmill, or an indoor cycle is a good investment to make to keep your indoor workouts interesting.

3. Stair case

The stairs in your house are superb exercising device themselves. You can simply start doing stair climbing up and down for a few minutes.

4. Core exercises

Exercises that make your core stronger using your own body weight are quite effective as indoor workouts. Body weight exercises like push-ups, squats and lunges are excellent choices to improve your muscular strength.

5. Yoga

While most people feel yoga is more about increasing flexibility, it is well known that yoga helps build immunity and helps in reducing respiratory problems which are a common affliction during monsoons.

6. Dance

If you are into dance, then that can easily substitute for a workout. Make a playlist of your favorite hi-energy numbers and dance like nobody is watching. This is a fun way to enjoy your indoor monsoon workouts.

7. Household chores

You may not believe, but household chores are an excellent way to keep yourself fit. Clean out the shelves and cupboards, sweep the entire house, hand wash the clothes and do dish washing.

8. Running in the rain

If its a mild drizzle, and not a full blown rain shower, one can venture out for a run on the jogging track in your building or at the neighborhood park.
