| Description | This is where I see this debate breaking down. Corporations are not people, they do not have any buy Madden 21 coins built-in moral instincts. Because they gain, Should they behave morally, it is, there's not any other motive. Either because there's pressure from their employees to behave in ways consistent with the morals and beliefs of the employees, or pressure from authorities or consumers. "Everybody should just do the right thing" is a naive expectation. And I feel that is true even for individuals too: if you want a person to act in a moral manner the ideal way to do that is to give them the ideal incentives and benefits to make behaving morally the greatest and most attractive solution for them. Your society will probably be intrinsically unstable, if you do. Why don't you encourage them? Words are actions, oftentimes. Putting a statement of belief such as this out isn't simple. I'd hope they're also doing stuff things to make the lives of their black employees better but that does not mean I want to take care of this as moot. Putting a public announcement is really a great step forwards for initiatives like that, since if EA isn't doing enough then it's really simple for people tirelessly to say"Look, our activities are materially different from our stated values and we should do something about that." In the end of the day should you refuse to admit when a business makes a small step you love then how will they ever learn to make a large step you love? You're treating this like a discussion in which making this concession means you won't have the bargaining power to make a bigger one later on. Is the lesson you would like them to understand from all that human decency is not worth appealing to because it does not actually affect purchasing decisions? I believe based on your remark that we are going to fundamentally disagree on idealism vs. realism, and that is okay. I find myself usually at the middle of realism and idealism because I know the way the world works but I still want a better world; you don't need to select one or another. I really don't understand why we need to provide corporations a pass simply because they aren't individuals (which Citizens United would disagree with but that's another argument.) We should not just accept the best we're given by a business, we should anticipate the best we need from these. Companies are produced from humans calling the shots and there are an infinite number of cases of companies that make enormous profits and endure for good causes. Patagonia is an example. They don't have to create sustainable products and supply repair and reuse applications to go against quickly trend, but they do and they also earn a lot of money anyways. "Everybody must do the right thing" is simply real if you do nothing about it. This case does not include the many gray topics where opinions have a place; this is actually a discussion of if you need black folks to have rights or not. It is not brave of a business to say that black people deserve rights simply because they'll lose white supremacist clients. It actually IS very simple for a company to put out a statement of opinion similar to this, as we've seen from each of the businesses doing this at this time like Amazon and the NFL. I really don't know how it's difficult to get a multi-million dollar company to give up a very small fraction of the profits for the greater good. If people who don't like Black Lives Issue make up a Vast Majority of mut coins madden 21 a company's customerbase, then perhaps they should not have those gains (not claiming EA's playerbase in against BLM, this really is a hyperbolized illustration ) | ||||
