| Description | The Mulberry Street Bridge in Harrisburg reopened to vehicular mulberry outlet and pedestrian traffic just after 9 a.m. Friday, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced. The 18-span bridge connects the Allison Hill section of the city to the Harrisburg Transportation Center and the downtown area. It crosses over Cameron Street, Amtrak and Norfolk Southern rail lines and Paxton Creek. The bridge was originally built in 1909 and rehabilitated in 1957 and 1982. PennDOT has contracted Neshaminy Constructors, Inc., of Feasterville, at a cost of $12.2 million to rehabilitate the bridge, which has been classified as structurally deficient, PennDOT said. The rehab work this year involved removing the 1957 bridge deck and replacing it with a new deck. New lighting has also been installed, as well as a new concrete barrier between the roadway and the sidewalk, a new pedestrian railing and a new railroad protective fence. Next year, the contractor will focus on substructure and superstructure repairs. Though most of the remaining work in 2015 will be done underneath the bridge deck and the bridge will remain open.
Mulberry's design team takes inspiration from the traditional English countryside for its Pre-Fall 2015 collection. Although recently named creative director Johnny Coca is set to join the team next year, the present design team makes a strong statement with the elegant and subtly patriotic collection. The London-based luxury brand features key design elements from Georgian houses, fall countryside scenes, and English cottage and oak leaf prints mulberry bayswater reminiscent of William Morris' Arts and Crafts design movement. The palette is also Georgian-inspired, featuring powder blues and sandstone pinks to neutrals, Earl Grey, and red brick hues. The shapes also range from the more tailored culottes and blazers to the more whimsical pleated skirts revealing a burst of color and print. The shoes and accessories also complemented the collection nicely. A revival of the classic Darby loafers, high-heeled Chelsea boots and almond-toed ankle boots were worn with bobby socks in contrasting colors. The ostrich leather bags and clutches in rich burgundy were highlights of the featured accessories.
