Wie viele Seelen-Suche 1990s Jugendliche, war ich mit Nike Air-Technologie besessen. Ich würde über die neuesten Innovationen, von sichtbaren Vorfußluft zu abgestimmten Luft zu anderen Arten von Luft poren. Ich würde sogar gebrauchte Sneakers auf dem Flohmarkt kaufen und sie zerreißen, um die Luft zu inspizieren. Ich versuche nicht zu sagen, dass Nike Air nutzlos ist. Die gasgefüllten Dämpfungssäcke revolutionierten die Sneaker-Welt, als sie vor über 30 Jahren eingeführt wurde. Als Mode-Statement allein, die Einführung von Air Max half, eine Hütte Industrie von Sneakerheads und Sammler mit Ralph Lauren Shorts Mens Schränken voller ungetragenen Schuhe zu schaffen. Es war nicht immer so. Bereits 1964 gründete die ehemalige University of Oregon-Läuferin Phil Knight und sein ehemaliger Trainer Bill Bowerman das Unternehmen, um der laufenden Community den Zugang zu den besten Schuhen zu ermöglichen. Sie nannten es Blue Ribbon Sports (BRS), die naszierende Firma begann als Verteiler für Onitsuka Tiger. Anscheinend verkaufte Bowerman die meisten Schuhe aus seinem Koffer auf der Strecke trifft sich.
